Civil Law

​Contracts are defined by Article 10 (1) of the Contracts Act, which provides that ” All agreements are contracts if they are made by the free consent of parties competent to contract, for a lawful consideration and with a lawful object, and are not hereby expressly declared to be void, and may, subject to the provisions of this Law, be made in writing, or by word of mouth, or partly in writing and partly by word of mouth, or may be implies from the conduct of the parties.

 

Our office undertakes all civil financial claim or defense to a claim before the Court as well as legal advice in relation to the attachment contracts.

 

We also undertake tort cases, which are defined in No. 914 of the Civil Code provides that “whoever harm another illegal and culpable has a duty to compensate him”.

The accession of Cyprus to the European Union on 1 May 2004 had a complete impact on the legal system in Cyprus, while intensive efforts to harmonize Cypriot law with a wide range of EU directives and other legal provisions were made.
